Who runs this site

The EV Calculator (theevcalculator.co.uk) is an independent site run from the United Kingdom. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, contact hello@theevcalculator.co.uk.

What the calculator does with your figures

Every calculation happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. The mileage, prices, tariff rates and other figures you enter are never transmitted to a server, never stored, and never seen by anyone but you.

One exception is worth understanding. The Share these inputs button builds a link containing your figures as parameters in the web address. Nothing is uploaded when you press it - the link is simply copied to your clipboard. But if you then send that link to someone, or post it publicly, the figures it contains travel with it. Do not share a link if the numbers in it are private to you.

Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical connection data in order to deliver pages and protect against attacks. That includes your IP address, the pages requested, timestamps, and details about your browser and device. This processing is necessary for the site to function and to stay secure, which is the lawful basis relied on. Cloudflare's own privacy practices are described at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Fonts loaded from Google

The site's typeface is served from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches it, your IP address is transmitted to Google. No cookie is set by this request, but it does mean a third party sees that your device requested a resource from this site. If you would rather this did not happen, blocking requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com in your browser will leave the site fully functional in a fallback typeface.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. It is deliberately chosen because of how little it does: it sets no cookies, uses no local storage, does not fingerprint your device, and cannot follow you to any other website. It records the page requested, the referring page if there is one, your browser, operating system and country, and timing measurements about page performance. None of that identifies you, and none of it is combined into a profile.

If you would rather not be counted, blocking requests to /cdn-cgi/rum on this domain, or using any standard content blocker, will stop the measurement without affecting the calculator.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies and uses no local storage. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

What is deliberately not done here

• No accounts, sign-ups, email capture or newsletters
• No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting or profiling
• No advertising, and no data sold or shared with advertisers
• No automated decision-making about you
• No third-party embeds beyond the font request described above

Links to other sites

Some pages link out to manufacturers, energy suppliers, government pages and comparison sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies and this one does not cover them.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over personal data relating to you. Because this site holds no user records, in practice there is nothing here to access or delete. Any request about server-log data should go to hello@theevcalculator.co.uk and will be actioned with the hosting provider where possible.

If you believe your data has been mishandled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is aimed at adults making vehicle purchase decisions and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts doing something that affects your privacy - adding analytics, or advertising, for instance - this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date at the top will change with it.
