Using this site

The EV Calculator is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

This is not financial advice

Nothing on this site is financial, legal, tax or investment advice, and no part of it is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The calculator produces estimates based on figures you supply and general assumptions about how cars depreciate and what things cost. It cannot know your circumstances, your credit terms, your insurance quote or what a particular car will actually be worth in three years.

Decisions about buying, financing or selling a vehicle are yours alone. Where a decision matters financially, take advice from someone qualified to give it.

Accuracy and limitations

Considerable care goes into the formulas, and the methodology is documented openly on the How it works section so you can check it. Even so:

• Depreciation is a projection, not a fact. Used vehicle values move with the market and can differ substantially from any modelled rate.
• Tax rates, grants and charging schemes change. Figures are reviewed periodically but may be out of date at the moment you read them.
• Default values are illustrative starting points, not recommendations. Replace them with your own figures.
• Insurance, servicing and energy costs vary widely between individuals for reasons the calculator cannot see.

No warranty is given that the site or its output is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its output, including financial loss on a vehicle purchase, sale or finance agreement. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Availability

The site is offered as-is and may be changed, interrupted or withdrawn at any time without notice.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at volume, or republish its content as your own. You are welcome to link to it, quote short passages with attribution, and share calculator links.

Intellectual property

The text, design and calculator on this site belong to The EV Calculator unless stated otherwise. Vehicle names and trade marks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively only. No endorsement by or affiliation with any manufacturer, dealer or energy supplier is implied.

Links to other sites are provided for convenience. Their content is not controlled here and no responsibility is taken for it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
